COMBINE A STRONG ACADEMIC GRADUATE PROGRAM WITH PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE IN THE PORK INDUSTRY

The Prairie Swine Centre Inc. (PSCI), in association with the Department of Animal and Poultry science, University of Saskatchewan, offers exciting opportunities in graduate studies at both the M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels. Co-incident with a strong traditional academic program, students also learn about Canada’s pork industry, thus preparing them for exciting careers in research, teaching, industry-related positions or further professional studies. Currently, the job market is extremely strong for students with advanced training in swine nutrition.

PSCI is a non-profit corporation affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan and engaged in research, technology transfer and graduate education, all directed at economic efficiency and sustainability of pork production. The Centre offers excellent animal facilities, including a 280 sow farrow-to-finish unit for intensive research and a 600-sow commercial barn for larger scale studies, combined with modern office facilities. The University of Saskatchewan is the only Canadian university with a combination of colleges devoted to the study of human, animal and plant life on one campus. More than a quarter of a billion dollars in new building construction is either underway or anticipated in the near future. The combined resources of the University and the Centre provide graduate students with an outstanding and unique opportunity for graduate students in swine nutrition.
