I grew up on a mixed farm in southern Saskatchewan and in 1973 attended the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a B.Sc. majoring in Biology. I was accepted into Veterinary Medicine in 1976 and finished 2 years of the program. An accident at my summer job prohibited me from attending my third year at the college. I started at Prairie Swine Centre Inc. in 1979 as a Stockperson and worked up to Manager-Operations in 1992.
