Pascal Leterme joined the Prairie Swine Centre as Research Scientist – Nutrition in 2005. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan. He leads the Centre’s nutrition research program with a particular focus on ingredient evaluation and on the determination of the functional characteristics of ingredient components, such as carbohydrates. Dr. Leterme is also involved in graduate student training.

Prior to joining the Prairie Swine Centre, Dr. Leterme was previously employed at Gembloux Agricultural University, where he conducted studies on gastrointestinal endogenous losses, at the National University of Columbia in Palmira where he established a new laboratory in swine nutrition and feed ingredient evaluation and at the National Veterinary School of Lyon, France where he taught animal nutrition and production.

In 1992, Dr. Leterme was elected to the Scientific Committee of the European Association for Grain Legume Research, a position he still holds. He has also served as the editor of Grain Legumes since 1999.

Dr. Leterme lives in Saskatoon with his wife Carmenza; they have two sons.
