MSc in SWINE NUTRITION (Precision Feeding)
The Prairie Swine Centre is seeking passionate, bright, and highly motivated individuals interested in a fully-funded position as an MSc graduate student in the disciplines of swine nutrition – precision feeding. The successful candidate will join a strong, multidisciplinary academic and research team with expertise in non-ruminant nutrition, feed processing, management, welfare, metabolism, and physiology. The selected candidate will be enrolled in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science and will receive their degree from the University of Saskatchewan. The anticipated start date is January 2026.
The successful candidate will lead and assist with projects involving both classical swine nutrition (e.g., growth performance, nutrient utilization) and advanced (e.g., immune status, nutrient modelling) techniques. The current nutrition research program is focused on the impact of early-life nutrition on growth, the impact of nutrition on health, and factors affecting nutrient requirements and utilization. The successful candidate’s research program will focus on:
Application of precision feeding techniques using blend-feeding technology
Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess the desire and capability to lead research projects and to collaborate effectively within a team of highly motivated individuals.
- Applicants must meet the graduate student admission requirements set by the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure eligibility prior to applying.
- A vehicle and a valid driver’s license are necessary for the position. Candidates must have completed, or be in the process of completing, a Bachelor of Science in animal science, animal physiology, nutrition, veterinary science, or a related Experience working with livestock, especially swine, as well as knowledge of nutrition, nutrient utilization, and feed formulation, is considered advantageous.
