Other pork attributes should not be reduced when enriching pork with omega-3 fatty acids.  Eating omega-3 enriched pork can have health benefits when consumed so it is desirable to produce. Feeding flaxseed enriches the omega-3 content of the pork, especially in high fat products. Previously, high flaxseed diets have contributed to pig rancidity. Vitamin E may be able to mitigate this problem. The off-flavours such as rancidity were reduced but not fully eradicated when vitamin E was added.
